These kits have been tested and optimized to facilitate the study of apoptosis in cells and tissue of the nervous system.

Caspase inhibitor-based apoptosis detection kits have been tested in primary neurons! The POLYCASP kits use a cell-permeant, fluorescently labeled pan caspase substrate which eliminates the need for lysis or permeabilization steps. The POLYCASP inhibitor will bind to active caspases within the cell, capturing the fluorescence. At the end of incubation wash your cells to eliminate unbound fluorescent inhibitor. Signal can be detected using a fluorescent microscope, fluorescent plate reader or flow cytometer.

Cells induced to undergo apoptosis are labeled with with either a red or green cell-permeable caspase substrate. Just culture your cells, induce apoptosis, incubate with POLYCASP reagent, wash out unbound caspase substrate and analysze your cells for apoptotic cell death.
